Dr. Takahito Ohmura of the Research Center for Structural Materials (RCSM) has been recognized by The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) for publishing the most outstanding research contributing to Metallurgy and Materials Science, and received 2025 AIME Champion H. Mathewson Award from The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).

The team was recognized for controlling the interfacial microstructure of Ni-Au alloys by ultrasonic laminate fabrication and obtaining excellent mechanical properties.
This result was achieved by the first author, Dr. Michael Pagan, who conducted his research activities at NIMS through the NIMS International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP).
