Kimishima-san (Roka High School) visited RCSM. Aug. 30, 2024

On August 30, 2024, Nozomi Kimishima-san, a first-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Roka High School, visited Research Center for Structural Materials (RCSM), NIMS .

Kimishima-san suddenly contacted our center in June of this year. He, who likes science, was interested in the research movies (YouTube) provided by NIMS and wanted to do a school assignment called “interviewing working adults” at NIMS.

Dr. Takahito Ohmura, Dr. Rudder Wu and Dr. Toshio Osada from RCSM were interviewed by Kimishima-san and explained their research, working as researchers, and the facilities they use in their research.

Kimishima-san worked hard to listen to the researchers' answers and explanations, and he compiled the interview into a newspaper and sent it to us along with a thank-you letter.

-----
Dr. Ohmura : He asked some very interesting and unexpected questions that day, and at the same time, I felt that his questions raised issues that we, as researchers, should consider once again.

Kimishima-san : I learned the importance of school lessons because the contents of their research were all about the application of knowledge from various fields. Through this interview, I decided to become even more eager for knowledge.

RCSM Public Relations staff : I wish I could have had this experience when I was younger, an experience that would have made me truly aware of the importance of having an insatiable appetite for knowledge.
